@novel_bibliophile: Okay, I made this video like... A month ago? And I've decided to post it now that I actually read the book. I have... So many things. I am not nearly smart enough for this book, let's start there. But regardless? I am in love. This is definitely not an easy pick up and read book, and you have to set aside a lot of time for yourself. Why? Because I had to read it FOUR FRIGGEN TIMES. Not really by choice. It is three different stories wrapped in one. It's the main story of The Ship of Theseus, which, even as a stand alone is incredible. Gives me "This Is How You Lose The Time War" vibes crossed with a touch of diesel punk (in the weirdest way) and pirates. Then there's the story of the translator and the author, which is.... Ugh, no spoilers but you have to learn how to use the books cipher and... Whatever, it's worth it. Then. THEN. You have the story of the two people that are reading the book together and passing each other notes in the margins. I am honestly not entirely sure what I was expecting. I guess I assumed it would be very "House of Leaves" unsettling, which it was. But it was so much more. It's a thriller, it's mystery, it's vaguely historical, it's a ROMANCE. And gosh darn it, it's an incredible romance. I haven't felt this smitten for characters in a while. All in all, I friggen loved this book, but I don't recommend going into it casually. You will need to devote time to it, and remind yourself that you are going to be opening and closing the damn thing over and over. 10000% worth it. Also, if you don't know the paradox of the Ship of Theseus itself, I highly recommend looking it up, it's a fun philisophical debate! John Dies At The End actually has a really good version of this with an axe! #bookstagram #bookrecs #books #mystery #thriller Author | TBR | romance | writing | unravelling | horror | fantasy |

if you don't know.. The Ship of Theseus is a famous philosophical thought experiment that questions whether an object, such as a ship, remains fundamentally the same after all its components have been replaced over time.

for those that don't know this is all intentional it's a genre of books called ergotic literature. The book is basically a game.

Love these types of books! I remember what got me into these types was a series called Skeleton Creek. The story was told through journal entries (the book), and links to video posts. Spooked little me but so good!😆

Read S. earlier this after it had sat in my TBR for several years. It was exhausting. I would not recommend to someone who couldn’t handle this level of commitment to a book.
