@h5_mamaventures: Replying to @Joan O'Dell Bennett We are in the middle of a silent land grab and most people don't realize it's happening. Farmers today are over 60. In the next decade that land is coming up and it's going to developers, corporations, solar farms and data centers. Those of us who want to work the land and raise food and leave something behind are being priced out. My husband's grandparents built this farm from scratch in the 1980s. We almost lost it when they passed. We sold our home to save it. And we would do it again. If you own land think legacy over profit. The land doesn't need more owners. It needs stewards. Once it's gone it's gone. Keep the land if you can. And if you're fighting for it you're not alone. #farm #familyfarm #savingthefarm
We sold our farm to a local farmer. He’s younger than us. He raises cattle and sells the beef to the community. We could have gotten more but we couldn’t have lived with ourselves if we went the other route.

The problem is Land is so expensive that regular people can’t buy it or afford to buy it. I would love to farm. I would love to become a farmer, but I don’t have parents that are farmers to pass a farm down and I don’t have millions of dollars to buy one.

Farmers work so hard and get very little in return. I understand why they sell but it makes me so sad

Following you from Connecticut. So many small farms are struggling. It’s a tough time right now but hang in there! No farms = no food.
