Every spring, downtown Seoul comes alive with thousands of glowing lanterns, creating a magical atmosphere that attracts both locals and visitors from around the world. With a history believed to span nearly 1,200 years, the parade unites Buddhist temples, various sects, and international Buddhist communities. Each group showcases lanterns designed in its own unique style, while cultural performances and creative displays reflect both tradition and modern times, making the celebration unforgettable for spectators. From April through May, a variety of Buddhist festivals honoring Buddha’s Birthday will also take place alongside the parade.
