Taking on a mortgage when we’re heading into a recession and already in a cost of living crisis doesn’t exactly sound secure. Food prices are rising, energy prices are rising and the economy feels increasingly unstable.

Makes you extremely vulnerable to interest rate changes so many people going from 1-2% mortgage rates in Covid now unable to pay their mortgage now it’s at the going rate around 5%

Doesn’t your salary define how much you can borrow?

Yeah, thats all well and good until they start doing the affordability tests, if you can't pass that or the stress test element of it, you're not getting that mortgage. Its not as simple as just giving them 5k for a deposit.

So let’s say I find a property of £230k, would I need to put a minimum 5% deposit down for this (£11.5k), or can I just put a £5000 deposit down instead?

The low deposits does not help at all. How much the banks want to lend is the problem

I used to think loans were my only option... $50K from the bank. $847 a month for 7 years. Over $21,000 in interest alone. Then I discovered grants. Same $50K. $0 to repay. $0 interest. $0 giving up control. The only difference? I stopped begging for money and started applying for what was already available. If you're a business owner trying to grow smarter, not harder, comment "GRANTS" below-I got you
