GenAI can do a lot of languages and is getting really good. all programmers will be code reviewers and prompt engineers in 3 to 5 years.

AI certainly can’t do everything but it can do a lot of dev work im ngl. also a math student used models regarding a proof he found himself and the AI was able to do it. meaning if you have a slight intuition about something it’s possible the model is able to produce the same result even if no one has proved it yet. kinda insane

What people don’t get is AI is a tool, it shouldn’t innovate or create. It’s a tool. So yes you should use a tool to enhance your work, and no you don’t expect it to innovate. Manual coding is as stupid as vibe coding

Humans are generally practical learners. Take away that practical element and people have a poorer understanding and memory meaning they will make poorer choices. And you can’t take the human away because AI can’t be trusted. Seems like a deadlock situation to me and I imagine the cost of AI will continue to rise and ultimately become unaffordable. I’m not an AI denier but I do think it’s doomed to fail

Newest models are pretty solid at every language I've tried. Even rust which was not the case with early models. Not that the ai does everything. You still need a talented developer to prompt it right.

Respectfully, horrible take. Ai can “vibe Code” well in many many programming languages. Also there are entire teams shipping new features not writing a line of code. Most devs don’t innovate per se. We fulfill the needs of the business via software. Most problems we work on are in some way already solved.

Not sure about that. I tried it with a QML project (very little projects use that language). Give it good examples, explain what you want and how you want it done, give it the tools to research, and it can do it and do it well.
