@melrobbins: This 60‑second trick looks ridiculous… but it makes you speak more clearly. Behavioral researcher and confidence expert Dr. Shadé Zahrai teaches a simple exercise: Hold a pen between your teeth and read a paragraph out loud. It forces your mouth, tongue, and facial muscles to work harder - and when you take the pen out, your speech becomes clearer, sharper, and more intentional. It really works!! If you want to speak with more clarity and confidence - without forcing anything - this episode of The Mel Robbins Podcast will show you how. @Dr. Shadé Zahrai is walking you through simple but powerful exercises you can do almost anywhere that will help you look, sound, and feel more confident. She’s also teaching how to break the common but sneaky patterns that keep you playing small and doubting yourself. 🎧 “How to Eliminate Self-Doubt Forever & Build Unshakeable Confidence” Listen now on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or YouTube - search “Mel Robbins Podcast Self Doubt”

Here’s a paragraph y’all can try!!: Speaking clearly is one of the most underrated forms of power a person can possess. In a world saturated with noise — half-finished thoughts, mumbled disclaimers, verbose hedging — the person who speaks with precision and intention cuts through like a blade. Clarity in speech is not simply about pronunciation or volume; it is about the alignment between what you think, what you intend, and what actually lands in the mind of your listener. When you speak clearly, you respect the other person’s time and intelligence — you are essentially saying, I have done the work of organizing my thoughts so you don’t have to decode them. This is rare, and people feel it. Clarity builds trust, because vagueness breeds suspicion — when someone cannot articulate what they mean, we instinctively wonder if they themselves know what they mean, or worse, if they are hiding something. Beyond interpersonal dynamics, clear speech shapes how opportunities find you: the candidate who articulates their value concisely gets the job, the entrepreneur who can explain their idea in two sentences gets the meeting, the student who answers a question precisely commands the room. It also has a deeply cognitive function — the act of forcing yourself to speak clearly about something reveals whether you actually understand it, because confusion in the mouth almost always traces back to confusion in the mind. This is why Richard Feynman insisted that if you cannot explain something simply, you do not yet understand it. Speaking clearly, then, is not just communication — it is a discipline, a practice of intellectual honesty, and ultimately a form of respect: for your listener, for your ideas, and for yourself
