Nietzsche and Jung aren't disagreeing, they're describing the same climb. Jung assumes you'll do something with what you find in the shadow. The upward movement is a foregone conclusion for him. He's the therapist, he trusts the process. Nietzsche doesn't make this assumption. Zarathustra is the manual Jung never wrote because Jung assumed you'd figure out the "now what" yourself. Same mountain. Jung maps the valley. Nietzsche points at the summit. The shadow integration *is* the death of the last man. Becoming *is* the Übermensch. Neither is actually new but, a restatments of the conclusions of wisdom traditions from time immemorial. We continue to struggle understand, synthesize and articulate these evolutions and truths.

I agree more with Friedrich Nietzsche, as I’ve always applied to become a police officer. I’ve failed a few times, but it’s never made me give up, and I know that one day I’ll get there.

I see it a bit differently. Nietzsche and Jung aren’t really a progression line. Nietzsche explores the collapse and reconstruction of meaning, while Jung focuses on integration and wholeness after inner fragmentation. Turning it into “who is higher” misses the depth of both.

You are absolutely correct: Nietzsche takes it a step further from Jung. The same exact resilience skills required to integrate the parts may be used to promote those parts to positions of power.

Id say they have the same ambition in this respect. And it makes sense because Jung was inspired by Nietzsches thought. Jungs view on integration is also not a surrender to the shadow but more so compromise between the conscious and unconscious self, so its kind of working like the desire for creative qualia you say nietzsche has

Check out Arendt. I think you’d like her philosophical contribution. Between past and future is a great place to start.

They’re not disagreeing and they’re not in conflict with each other because they’re different levels of abstraction. 😌

Both are implicitly saying "claim it, aim it and tame it" about the shadow. Ownership of the shadow equals empowerment in both thought systems. Jung is not telling the human to sit passively in "acceptance", but to take ownership, and on a bodily and mental level that is the essence of empowerment.
