@watchdesignco: THANK YOU! We've passed the 10k milestone and it's all thanks to you all! It's all about sharing a passion and seeing watches as design objects, not hype, investment pieces, etc. I'll continune to improve and share more design stories here, and will expand to other platforms, like YouTube for deeper dives, video podcasts/discussions and more. Thank you for your appreciation so far and hope you continue to enjoy and join me on this journey. Sean🙏 #watchtok #watchcommunity #watchcollector #watchdesign #WatchCollection

10k! Huge milestone, man. You’ve carved out a really unique space for yourself in the horology world. In a sea of repetitive content, your perspective is a breath of fresh air and I’ve learned a ton along the way. Keep doing your thing!

Keep on doing what you are doing, mate. Your’s is (with Andy’s) my favorite watch channel. I am lucky i found the chill, friendly and insightful and (above all) non gatekeepy parts of watch tok first, in my very recently started journey into watch world. Greetings from Germany.

FINE. I probably won’t make the shortlist but here’s my Seiko srpc91. It was gifted to me by a close friend and it’s special to me for one reason; it reawakened my passion for marine life. In 2020 some stupid switch in my brain flipped, I lost passion, hope, became more withdrawn and selfish. Now I’m 26, still trying to finish my degree in English literature. I have 4 classes left. I’ll do my best to finish them, get a job and finally pursue my passion: to save the ocean. Before it’s too late.

My first big watch purchase. My dad lived in Japan for a few years and always wore a Seiko diver that he got while there. After his passing I never found his watch. 10 years later I found myself wanting a Seiko diver to wear daily to remember him and settled on the SPB453. I keep looking at other watches to start a collection but have a hard time imagining wearing anything else.

Love your content. It’s refreshingly thoughtful and hits on exactly what I love about watches. I always thought they were cool as a kid, but it wasn’t something I put much thought into. As a freshman in college in 1991 I bought what I thought of as my first nice watch. A Tag Heuer F1. I still have it and it’s working beautifully. Then I studied and worked as an industrial designer for years. During that time I bought a vintage Omega Constellation that I also still have and love. Then something shifted. My interest waned and my perception of watches shifted from a love of the melding of art and mechanics to a feeling that they were meant to boost your ego in an attempt to impress people.
It wasn’t until my wife got me a Rolex Milgauss for our wedding that I started paying more attention to watches again. (The irony isn’t lost on me) Then I stumbled onto content like Andy’s Watches that gave me a refreshing perspective and led me to pages like yours.
The one watch collection video particularly resonated with me and the idea of it is something I have contemplated. However I rationalize a larger, but limited, collection of pieces that work perfectly in every situation I typically encounter in my life. (Daily, Dress, Beach, Travel, Outdoors Activities etc.)So instead of one piece for every moment so it deeply represents me I have a piece that’s specific to each moment and I feel more acutely evokes specific memories. You could argue I feel more attached to each piece and that just one can mute the significance in the same way an overly robust collection can. Either way I do agree you can appreciate a piece without owning it and too many reduces the significance of the others.
Perhaps that’s idealistic thinking, but I’ll do my best to romanticize it so I stick to it.
