As a South Sudanese artist, I feel it is my responsibility to speak not just for myself, but for our industry. Media wields tremendous influence in shaping public opinion and how our culture is perceived both locally and internationally, and that power must be exercised responsibly and fairly. It is neither accurate nor fair to generalize an entire generation of artists based on the actions of a few. South Sudanese music is not a single story,it is a tapestry of voices, journeys, and levels of growth happening simultaneously. While some artists are still developing, others are building strong brands, pursuing international recognition, and investing heavily in their craft. We must uphold respect for our industry. Criticism without context undermines not only individual artists but the collective progress of South Sudanese music.
