I’ll be completely honest here… I’ve offered mine up… in a very joking manner but not based on an infertility conversation. I always said things like that when people said… omg! She’s so cute! I’d be like… you can have her 😂😂 I do think that is very insensitive of a response in your situation.

I dont think that's something I would even think to say. I will say that I have a hard time expressing my sympathy when it comes to infertility. "I'm sorry" doesn't seem like enough and anything about myself and my child feels like rubbing it in. I can see where someone is unsure of what to say so they say something dumb unintentionally

I think context matters but I can’t imagine saying that. And I had no issues with fertility and have so much empathy for those struggling

I have six daughters and I have definitely said that before not thinking. Now I will definitely not say it again knowing it could be taken this way. Completely understandable.

As someone who had no trauma in conceiving I see how this can feel hurtful and inconsiderate. I try to see both sides of things, I wonder if this is the response because they don’t know how to respond. I know personally, while I have never said that, I feel a little guilty when I hear how difficult conceiving and carrying is for others. I think it helps to hear your feelings and perspective.

I had no trouble conceiving, and I think anyone who said that to you is being inconsiderate There are all sorts of things running through my brain right now, so I’m going to keep my opinions to myself, but I completely agree with you.

when people say, "just adopt" it makes me see red. It is SO flippant and disrespectful. there's literally nothing easy about adoption.

Took us 2 years and a fertility clinic to conceive our first via IUI, we’ve since gotten pregnant 3 times without trying and I would never say that to someone experiencing infertility. Now have a jokingly offered people my kids, sure, but not because they said they couldn’t have their own.

Extremely insensitive! I am extremely grateful. And would never make that comment to someone who is in the trenches of infertility.

Yes very insensitive and like what are we supposed to say when they say that anyway? also to add any phrase referring to 'oh enjoy the peace and quiet while you can' um sometimes being alone with your thoughts is hard too so we don't want more silence 😭
