Since long time the states are taxing the companies/merchants/guilds and the money they use to expand their power. The states just get stronger and further enable larger profits so it continues on and on. Giving money for free is nice, I would take it but is not meritocratic and might limit progress but who knows, maybe everything changes today 😊

If you give a certain amount to everyone , prices will adjust and you will have to give it back. Look what happened with dual income families. Now almost all homes require a dual income to survive. If corporations start paying taxes, we do away with stock buybacks and reduce our military foot print around the world, then we can divert funds to schools, infrastructure, research that can improve the lives of Americans directly and the rest of the world
