@pippavolansphotography: This conversation NEEDS to happen in the wedding industry 👏🏼 Using a photographer’s images to market your business without permission, credit, or licensing is not “just reposting” -it’s copyright infringement. And before anyone panics… this is not about attacking venues or suppliers. I LOVE collaborating and I’m genuinely very relaxed about suppliers using my images 🤍 My standard terms are simple:�✔ Social media use = fine�✔ Website use = fine�✔ Credit the photographer�✔ Provide a backlink where possible That backlink helps BOTH of our SEO, strengthens online visibility, and benefits everyone involved. Win-win. What I’m talking about here is purely COMMERCIAL use:�Ads, paid campaigns, brochures, publications, sponsored posts, large-scale marketing etc. That requires a commercial licence. Also, PLEASE stop sourcing wedding galleries from couples. Couples do not own the copyright to wedding photographs. The photographer does. Go directly to the creator and ask properly. And for styled shoots/collabs: This is absolutely fine on a mutual-use basis - just agree image usage terms BEFORE the shoot so everyone is protected and expectations are clear. This isn’t about gatekeeping.� It’s about respecting creative work and normalising proper industry standards. Credit is courtesy.�Licensing is business.�Copyright is law.
