@austin.and12: LDS lifetime divorce rate = 11% National average = 50% (Gitnux) Here’s why👇🏽 1️⃣ Marriage isn’t treated like a “trial run” A lot of modern relationships are built around “seeing how it goes.” LDS couples are taught marriage is sacred, eternal, and worth fighting for 2️⃣ We date for marriage…not convenience Hookup culture, situationships, and casual dating destroy commitment. LDS culture pushes people to intentionally date for family and long-term compatibility 3️⃣ Faith keeps couples together Praying together, going to church together, reading scripture together…it’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it. Shared faith changes marriages 4️⃣ The world normalizes divorce The second marriage gets hard, people say “leave.” LDS culture teaches sacrifice, forgiveness, loyalty, and working through hard seasons instead of quitting 5️⃣ Younger marriages The “norm” is to build a career, become independent, and then settle down with a spouse. In LDS culture, it’s the opposite. Couples grow dependently on each other and build their lives simultaneously instead of separately. If they do it’s because girls are taught being married and submissive is the goal in life.

I’m an ex Mormon, been married 30 years. Two TMB siblings are both working on their third “‘marriages” in the temple.

We were married in the AF temple for 23 years. She was serial cheating with men and women from BYU the whole time. Out covenants meant jack diddly do. The stats mean nothing as everyone's individual experience is different.

Cause when you’re taught from birth that divorce is a sin in your cult you stay with them no matter how miserable you both are. It’s also statistically proven that 6-10 Mormon marriages have at least one if not both of the spouses having at least 1 affair during the marriage
