I ran a cyberpunk/shadowrun campain using d&d and loved it but boy did i make people online mad. they hate that stuff

As someone who plays 5e, the other reason to use home brew, is because books and games are expensive. So having a base game that everyone knows and than using some rules from other games or just making stuff up is a good way to keep the game fresh and interesting.
