@linds.hampton: I know I usually post meal prep on Mondays and keep things pretty positive on here… but I wanted to share this because talking about it honestly kind of helps. Yesterday I had a panic attack for the first time in my life and I genuinely didn’t even realize that’s what was happening while it was happening. It’s crazy how your brain can think you’re handling stress completely fine… while your body is holding onto way more than you even realize. I genuinely felt like I was losing control of my body and it terrified me. It completely changed the way I look at stress and anxiety. I know I get so busy day to day and just keep pushing through everything, but it was a reminder that sometimes your body forces you to slow down whether you want to or not. Mental health is real. Stress is real. And taking care of yourself is so much more important than we sometimes realize. #realtalk #MentalHealth #mentalhealthmatters

Yes - once you've had a true panic attack, you realize most people do not use that term correctly. I am glad you're feeling better now

Get your thyroid checked if you haven’t had it checked before. I had those same symptoms and my thyroid levels were off the wall.

That is so scary! Also reach out to your doctor… while I agree with everyone it could very much be a panic attack … but it could also be something more. Let your dr know and have them check your blood work just better to check everything to be safe. Glad you’re ok! We can wait until next Monday for our new meal! 😘

They are very scary and can come in many different forms. But now that you are aware. Research techniques.. breathing exercises ..pressure points .. I can sense when one might be coming on and catch myself before it gets out of control.

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Panic attacks are so scary and can come on without warning. Something I learned, let’s say I was driving down the interstate and I had a panic attack, I would have anxiety driving down the interstate every time after that, spiraling into a panic attack just because of fear I would have another one. Be careful not to let yourself spiral. Just because it happened on that one call doesn’t mean it will on the next one! Also, something that helps me is remembering panic attacks don’t usually last more than 15 minutes! I researched the science behind what happens in your brain during an attack and that helped a lot too!

I thought I was having a heart attack first time I had my first panic attack. Sooo scary. Sometimes they come on and I’m not even stressed. Take care of yourself. You will start to learn signs and learn how to calm yourself down ❤️

While that certainly could be signs of a panic attack, I would make an appointment with your doctor to discuss your symptoms. Glad you're feeling better.

Some people take propranolol to help with performance anxiety. It calms those physical symptoms (sweating, tremors, heart racing, etc), but doesn’t sedate you so you can still participate at work and other activities.

Sometime fill a big bowl of water with ice cubes. I will hold my breath while counting slowly. (1 1 thousand) Sounds like a panic attack. When I was in my 20s I got them but I actually could not breathe. I could not catch my breath. It is so scary!
