I think it’s interesting how many people don’t realize they’re just like bear. They refuse to accept that autonomy is stolen after any kind of wish is made. Doesn’t matter how you word it. At least Ian didn’t really hurt anyone by wishing for money as far as we know.

Tbh even before he made the wish it was clear that he was an incredibly selfish character. Like the whole reason he got the gift was because it was something that he liked, not something that she would like(stone necklace)

Full honesty, I don’t blame him for the wish. Hell, who hasn’t wished that their crush loved them more than anything else and how would he have known that the wish would’ve came true. I do blame him for everything in the second half after the phone call though
