I think this is genius - toggle on/off the type of things you want to be notified of - perhaps like historical, nature, quirky, cafe with great review, photo spots, art. Etc etc. it would be great. So much of the info is already there in the maps/reviews - you just need it fed to you. I drive alone so sometimes pull over when I want a break and look to see if there is something nearby, but realise I passed something an hour back that was cool.

It’s not exactly what you’re asking for, but I think having EV charging stations at places of interest is starting to influence the way we do long distance travel. The imperative to get to a charging station means you have to sometimes get off the major route you’re following and visit a small or place of interest along the way. Therefore, encouraging people to explore places they wouldn’t have otherwise visited.

I think it would be a pain in the ass 😂 when I’m using maps I want to focus on getting where I need to be. There could be a choice before you select your journey though….like… “turn on tourist guide”

When I was on a self drive camper van trip in New Zealand they had this with a digital radio station. No drop outs and having to search for local radio stations.

You can, sort of... I type in keywords like, SCENIC. or RESERVE. 'ADD STOP. But I get you. Great idea. 👍
