When you win this election and get universal healthcare passed in our state, please let that include ambulance services. We get left out of the conversation yet are a critical part of healthcare. We charge too much, yes, but only bc insurance companies don’t want to pay for our services. We need our first responders!

My son has been treated at UM for the past 6 years. He has BCBS. He has a very well established & trusting relationship with his med team. He will now have to find a whole new team somewhere else?

Thank you for this explanation. I am panicking a little bit because I am a transplant recipient who gets all my care at U of M who saved my life and I have Blue Cross so something needs to happen, And I guess we can't. just hope for the best

Am I misunderstanding? If Michigan Medicine agreed to take less from BCBS in the past because they were supplemented with NIH funding, and now members have to go to other hospital systems that don't receive the NIH supplement and charge more, wouldn't that mean BCBS would be paying out more anyway? A cost I'm sure they'll be passing on to all members eventually. You have my family's vote.

I have several complicated heath issues. I've had to travel 2+ hours each way for 12 years now to receive treatment at U of M. I don't want to find out what its like without them. My local providers are not equipped for this.

I have a feeling there will be a last minute agreement. UM is notoriously hard to negotiate with. But I don’t fault them for wanting higher reimbursements in the wake of the NIH cuts. I pray this comes to a workable agreement. BCBS has had a tough year or two financially and losing UM from their network is detrimental to their competitiveness as a carrier

Totally agree with what you have said. Healthcare is yet another example of corporate greed. My question is how does an insurance company, that is a nonprofit, put making huge profits over the service to their members? How are they allowed to give upper management enormous bonuses, and profits? No one should be paid millions while the members are forced to incur higher premiums for less coverage year after year. If they cannot regulate their costs then government regulations of some kind are needed to rein them in or mediate services and prices
