11 months. 321 days out to sea away from home. 🤍 Coming home and being able to hug my mom and see my sister again is a feeling I can’t put into words. But as happy as I am to be home, a part of my heart is still hurting. This time, coming home looked a little different. My dad wasn’t there. I wasn’t able to get that hug from him because he was deported while I was out to sea. Words can’t explain the emotions I’ve been feeling. After 321 days away, all I wanted was to come home and be with my family, to hug the people I love and feel like I was finally where I belonged. But this time, someone so important was missing. I’m grateful to be home, grateful to hold my mom and see my sister, but there’s an emptiness that’s hard to explain when someone you love so much isn’t there to welcome you home. You spend months looking forward to that moment, imagining what it will feel like to finally be home again, never expecting that it would come with so much heartache. I made it home after 321 days at sea, but this time, I couldn’t come home to everyone I left behind. And as happy as I am to be home, a part of my heart is still out there, wishing things were different. No matter how far I go or how long I’m away, I’ll always be my dad’s child, and nothing can replace the feeling of being able to come home and hug your dad. 🤍 #cvn72 #Abrahamlincoln #deploymenthomecoming #deportation
