I worked for 15 years for a medical malpractice insurer. We reviewed and approved attorney bills. We wondered all the time if those on the plaintiff's side where they only get paid if they win, were more efficient in time spent on a case.

We paid from the moment the attorney’s left Phoenix then they had to get a room to the next day that they got back to Phoenix for every single court date because yes, the judge wanted the attorney here in person

I think you have a fair and empathetic point, but I think virtual appearances for evidentiary hearings/trials is a slippery slope. Anytime evidence is admitted into court, should be done in person.

We’ve always had Zoom court for any family court things I’ve been involved in. And I hate it, and my lawyer hates it. He says he feels much more effective in the courtroom. After Covid, all the judges decided that they just wanted to work from their desk in front of a camera, and it’s been like this since Covid.

I have a rant judges, and attorneys need to stop being in cahoots… I had a divorce that took almost 7 years because the judge just allowed it to be continued and continued and continue
