@billyroosa: Building a deck? You might want to consider adding blocking to your framing. Is it necessary? No, but it certainly will add to the rigidity of your deck. Chances are you already have scrap lumber laying around, so why not put it to good use? Typically any joist that spans over 7-8’ we will add blocking. Just make sure when installing your blocking it is below (or level) to your joists, otherwise when it comes time to install your decking you’ll have a nice hump in your deck!
