@adytum_official: The chronic illness community has been saying for years that hEDS, POTS, and MCAS cluster together. Research is now extending that cluster to include ADHD and autism, and finally testing it at population scale. A 2025 preprint by Pearson et al. analyzed over 23 million patient records and found hEDS patients are significantly more likely to develop long COVID, especially with overlapping POTS or mast cell symptoms. A 2025 European Psychiatry editorial synthesized evidence that hypermobility, immune dysfunction, and dysautonomia cluster in ADHD. Csecs et al. 2022 found over 50% of autism, ADHD, and Tourette participants had generalized joint hypermobility versus around 20% in controls. This is association data, not causation. Some of the overlap is likely diagnostic ascertainment bias. The Pearson study is a preprint and not yet peer-reviewed. I’m not a doctor, just sharing research I find interesting. And our souls and bodies are hyper sensitive to the unseen things, for me I am especially sensitive to EMFs and need to move out of the city. Even my phone or laptop keys start to burn my fingers when using extended periods of time. 🔥 📡

I just wanted to clarify that chronic fatigue is the symptom (of many conditions) and ME/CFS (chronic fatigue syndrome) is its own thing. ME/CFS is not the same thing as chronic fatigue! We just try to educate and clear that up because people can start to equate the two which ends up harming our community in the long run💙

for my first 48 years I was just a hypochondriac with wierd medical problems. finally graduated to hEDS, adhd/autism, CF, Fibro, and POTS in my 50s. finally vindicated.

Love the recent focus on this cluster of chronic illnesses, but why do none of the studies investigate possible links to endometriosis?

Thank you for spreading this information -it would be amazing to have one unifying name, so we wouldn’t have to go to 600 different specialists, constantly explain these strange symptoms, and repeatedly not be believed🤝

diagnosed ADHD, several joints bend in ways they shouldn't (knees, shoulders, fingers, and possibly neck), got random heart rate spikes til I started a low dose beta blocker (had 2 separate EKGs done and they both basically said "well, it's normal just....fast")

Wheelychey (they/them) :
There was also recently a study that indicates that HEDS or at least some forms of it may actually be related to a mutation on a gene related to mass cells, which can also affect connective tissue, which could indicate that rather than the hypermobility causing the mass cell issue. It’s the mass cell issue, causing a hypermobility and other issues.

It’s probably even higher bc a lot of us can’t get diagnosed because they dismiss us without testing. I have diagnosed adhd and have been saying I have worsening symptoms for these things & I get dismissed bc they say it’s too rare to have it all. Let’s educate drs now.

How does one go about getting diagnosed with some of these things? I’m 99% positive I have heds and audhd but I’m not diagnosed and I just got insurance so I can finally start the process but idk where to start.
