@startup__academy: California Pizza Kitchen once made a mistake so large it could have cost them their business. Instead of combating the issue, they were able to turn the whole experience into an upside with excellent execution of brand awareness. "They sent mac and cheese for delivery to someone's house and they forgot the Mac. We had like a really tight approach that relied on speed, and showing up like a person. We gave the country 50% off on Mac and cheese for the 50% of Mac and Cheese we forgot." -Jill Smith on Startups Decoded podcast #californiapizzakitchen #marketing #brandawareness #macandcheese #adcreative

The way she’s talking about the story feels very impersonal and disingenuous. Like I still get what she means, but it would land better if she was just like “yeah it’s actually as simple as if you acknowledge the mistake from a human perspective and not as a business all it takes is personally making it right and that way the person can see that you’re not just a company and that are genuinely made up of actual people that care about the experience and would expect the same if it happened to them. Being real and literally connecting with people unsurprisingly is something people care about from a business.

She thought it was funny. She by no means went ballistic. She actually gave yall a lot of grace, this is doing far more damage that her video did about this brand.
