They make the nurses park in a remote parking lot across some railroad tracks. The rumor is that the suspect was roaming around all day and had been reported. But nothing was done like asking him to leave etc. she has a newborn and a 3 year old. So sad.

Parking lot is very easily accessible to the public. Also a very long walk to the door. Never saw security there

I’m sending my prayers to family and friends. If I was an employee the hospital should be securing employees and visitors. If I were an employee I would be getting a huge group together and demanding that they would be securing us coming and going or we would find new jobs

I am so sorry to the victim and her family. This is devastating. I do appreciate you sharing this because I truly don’t think the public understands the fear that healthcare staff have about the increased violence against our profession. I am sorry that this family had to be a part of this. It’s truly terrifying that these hospitals are not more secure both inside and the parking areas. Most times hospital staff have to park much further out so that patients can park closer and there is no protection. ❤️

As a former DCH employee, this has been an ongoing problem for security. The hospital always said there’s not enough money but yet there’s money to do other reconstruction to the hospital. Employees were never allowed to park in the parking deck. We had to park outside by the train tracks. I can tell you where security was. They were behind a little small brick building in the overflow parking lot in that little white truck like always employees have always complained that there was never enough lighting never enough security or anything else it took for something like this to happen. My thoughts and prayers go out to this family, but this would’ve been avoided if More security had have been there or just let your employees park in a parking deck.
