As someone who has never been to a ren faire, I’m realizing my idea of what happens at ren faires is not very accurate. It sounds like there’s a lot more crossover with comic cons than I’d have thought.

Garuntee it’s a heatstroke issue. Maryland in the spring and summer can either be 60 and lovely, or 100 and humid as hell.

I mean, having worked at faires where things like stripey socks and certain decorative plants at booths were banned, I can also say that sometimes rules are there because the little Kings that run some kingdoms love skiing in the *snow* ❄️and wielding whatever power they can, but yes, generally rule are there because they have to be.

it should be a law that when a random rule like that is posted there should be a link or somewhere a place where the average person can go... to get all the tea. Because it drives me crazy everytime I see a rule like this and Im like "that has a story behind it." and I NEEEEED to know.

Heatstroke! Heatstroke! Md renfest is in AUGUST! We get 100 degrees plus sometimes all the way into September and 90 degrees in October. My birthday is 9/19. It can be hot as hell or fucking cold. Choose wisely

I was a Ren Faire music director for 8 years. You're absolutely correct. Most Ren Faires are super chill and it takes forever to get to the point that faire would ban something. But if there's a ban... something absolutely had to happen to get to that point.

Ya know I live in Maryland. I’ve gone to Rennfest so many times for decades now. I’ve literally never seen a fursuit at rennfest. Like I’m not saying that no one wore one but I am convinced this boils down to a singular incident and not a widespread issue.
