I’ve been with my boyfriend for 3.5 years and I love him deeply, but for a long time I felt like I was begging for change and more effort. Over time I started craving independence and wanting to experience life outside the relationship, especially since I’m only 20 and have never been with anyone else. A month ago I almost broke up with him, and since then he’s genuinely changed and become the person I always wanted him to be. The problem is that I’m scared it happened too late. I still love him so much, but I don’t know if the feelings about freedom and figuring myself out will go away now that things are finally getting better. I just keep on crying cause both staying and leaving feels terrible

I did it, I regretted it as soon as I started to speak. As soon as he said it’s okay I understand, as soon as we ended the conversation with I love you. I can’t stop crying. I know it’s hard, I was the one who said it, i started crying while saying it. I feel like a terrible person, but I need both of us to grow mature, to grow stronger. Not together, but separately. It’s already been done. I have to endure the regret even though I did what I had to.

Broke up with him last night and it’s broken my heart but i wasn’t treated right and being constantly either upset or annoyed wasn’t healthy for either of us. Not what I wanted to do, he seems broken by it, but I had to do it so we can grow. Now he knows what he’s lost, maybe he’ll treat me right if there ever is a second try
