@emmiedez: this white coat syndrome has been dreadful this pregnancy to the point where the nurse taking my vitals start to worry for me, then i have to explain myself at every appointment but i feel really silly with their reactions or comments. nearing the end of my pregnancy, i just worry about the obvious risk of a high BP which tends to freak me up. i started worrying more about a providers reaction to my BP then actually being nervous about anything. #anxiety #pregnant #whitecoatsyndrome #pregnantlife

Bring your blood pressure cuff in to your next appointment and have them check it for accuracy! I have all my patients w high reading blood pressures do this to make sure we’re comparing apples with apples

Ask them to take your bp at the end of the appointment. Most people feel a bit calmer after they’ve been sitting in the room for a bit, especially when they know the appointment is over.

Your cuff isn’t on correctly! Cord should be coming from above the crease in your elbows not behind your arm. Also bring cuff with you to next spot

Hi! I just recently found out that I also suffer from white coat syndrome and most people may think it’s silly, but it’s real. Just try and relax, take deep breaths! You’re going to be okay.

When your taking it at home pls make sure your putting the cuff on correctly that cord need to be on the front of your arm right over your vein for a correct reading. That is most likely why your not getting a high reading at room because your not doing it correctly.

I know you weren’t asking for opinions, but I had gestational hypertension with 4 pregnancies and my OBs always recommended waiting until the end of an appointment to check mine ❤️after I’d been sitting/resting for about 10-15 min!

My bp was always sky high at home and normal/low at my appointment. My son ended up being born 3 weeks early because I was showing him my readings at home

I had such bad anxiety at my last apt that I had my first high reading. I cried. They made me sit for ten minutes and took it again and it came down. It’s so nerve wracking.

My kids are 5 & 7 and til this day, I still have PTSD from taking my BP (I had pre e twice). Crazy how high anxiety can make your BP. Hang in there 😞

Hey! Ask them to do vitals at the very end of the visit right before you’re about to leave. For me I’m much more relaxed and at ease once I know the appointment is ending :)

You’re literally not alone. This is the only reason I’m considered high risk , I have f/u with MFM every month and have 2 NSTS every week🥲

I have severe white coat syndrome due to trauma related to pregnancy loss - they know this, they have it charted, and they still tell me my BP is really high every time. I’m going to buy a cuff and take my BP at home, take a photo to show them the morning of before I go to the appointment. My BP is typically on the low side 😭

I have this but the opposite. I had high bp prior to getting pregnant, I am on a bp medication, but everytime I check it at home, it’s high, but at my appts it’s completely normal.

Hi Emmie 🤍 I had horrible white coat syndrome too during pregnancy 😭 they always worried about preeclampsia because my BP would spike at appointments. I brought my own cuff to compare readings, and they also checked urine/labs since it’s not diagnosed off BP alone 🤍
