@martinlewismse: “Martin, will workplace pensions still be worth it after the salary sacrifice changes?” Watch the full UK PENSION SUPERPOWERS video for more information: @Martin Lewis Just a snippet from the full Martin Lewis Money Show: Pension Special you can watch on ITVX.
Yes, they will still be worth it, but yet again the government raids private sector pensions while maintaining gold plated public sector pensions.

For a decade, governments have said workers are not saving enough in to their pensions. Punishing them for doing so seems counterproductive. Also, acting like saving £2k a year in to a pension is a lot of money, is frankly ridiculous.

Martin. Hope you see this. Please don’t stop fighting on plan 2 student finance. I left university ten years ago. My debt is 50k it hasn’t moved. They take 9% of my bonuses my pay. So after being in second tax band, I’m taxed 49%. Thank you for being my voice

Thats how it starts; us millennials/Gen Z and below are being shafted again. The government is raiding our personal pension pot before we’ve even got it. Who it to even say we are going to get a state pension. Maybe the retirement age will also go up. And then let’s even talk about how pensions will no longer be IHT exempt from next year. Im still going to contribute to my pension because really what choice do i have.

It will make no difference to the super wealthy but as always it will hit the middle to high earners

the government is basically taxing everything, they don't care. if they had salaries like us, it would be a different story.

Why are they capping it? Surely it only impacts us and doesn’t impact the government enough for them to benefit from the cap?

Never put a penny in Private pension just shove in into stock market account. Why leave money that's poorly invested , badly governed and the rules can change multiple times during your lifetime all with no access. no thanks

He minimises it by showing if you put the bare minimum in. Hits those harder who are putting more than the minimum in to try build a liveable pension pot. Also this is a cost to businesses as they will have to pay the employers part too, they will no doubt take out of any potential pay rises

I might be wrong here, but I feel that the government are going to boost the pension pot now, but I guarantee, they will take them gains away once you reach the age of withdrawing your pention

It really feels very silly for the government to do anything to disincentivise private pension saving. It feels short sighted.

This is the most short sighted own goal I have ever seen. This will just contribute to people not saving for retirement properly
