Binary uses base 2 because it has only two digits so 1111 = (1x2^3) + (1x2^2) (1x2^1) (1x2^0) 2^3=8 2^2=4 2^1=2 2^0=1 so 8+4+2+1 =15

Then he subtracts: 18 − 16 = 2……. Next, he finds the largest power of 2 that is less than or equal to 2, which is 2 (2¹)……Then: 2 − 2 = 0, so he stops. …….. The powers of 2 he used are 2⁴ and 2¹. That means the bits at positions 4 and 1 are 1, while the others are 0 (counting positions from right to left starting at 0)………So the binary representation of 18 is 10010.
