Try a lactation consultant. My girl didn’t latch and I needed the nipple shields too, but a lactation consultant from Kew (I’m also Melbs) came to our home and gave some amazing tips which solved our latch issues

My baby is finally latching without shield and she’s 4 months idk why they did say her mouth was small but have no idea to me I feel like that wouldn’t be the reason but unsure🤷🏻♀️

Check for tongue/ lip ties! My son was the same, after the procedure (tongue tie release) he latched so well!
