If you’re regaining after bariatric surgery, stop trying to fix everything at once. You don’t need a new diet. You don’t need a new supplement. You don’t need a protein cookie recipe that somehow has 47 ingredients and still tastes like drywall. You need a few simple things done consistently. 1️⃣ Track your food. I don’t care if it’s the Rewrite app, Baritastic, a notebook, or the notes app on your phone. Just track it. Most people who are regaining aren’t actually sure what they’re eating. They have a rough idea. A general feeling. A guess. But feelings don’t have calories. The second you know you have to log something, you start making different decisions. Tracking creates awareness, and awareness changes behavior. 2️⃣ Stop buying the bullshit. Finish the protein bars. Finish the skinny syrup. Finish the keto snacks. Finish the “healthy” foods that have an ingredient list longer than a CVS receipt. Then don’t buy them again. Just for a month. See what happens when your pantry is filled with actual food instead of products pretending to be food. Most people don’t have a willpower problem. They have a proximity problem. It’s a lot harder to eat the junk that’s not sitting in your kitchen. 3️⃣ Focus on fiber. Not carbs. Not fat. Not whatever nutrition debate Facebook is having this week. Fiber. If you’re beyond your post-op stages and cleared for regular foods, start aiming for around 25 grams a day. Because when people focus on fiber, they naturally start eating more vegetables, more fruit, more beans, and more whole foods. And funny enough, less room is left for the stuff that’s been keeping them stuck. And before someone tells me their protein bar has 15 grams of fiber, let’s talk. A lot of those fibers come from ingredients like polydextrose and soluble corn fiber. While they count toward the number on the label, they’re not the same thing as getting fiber from fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, and seeds. Your gut wants real food. Not a candy bar wearing a gym membership. Regain rarely happens because of one giant mistake. It’s usually the result of hundreds of small choices repeated over time. The good news? That’s exactly how you fix it too. One small choice at a time. If you’d like my fiber guide, drop the word FIBER below and I’ll send it
