I think there’s this idea online that you can only talk about money once you’ve ‘made it’. Or at the very least you can only talk about it if you have it. An exclusive club for those with a six figure earning, a fancy degree & an investment portfolio by the time they’re 25. But what about those of us who aren’t there yet but want to be one day? Money affects every single person alive, so who can I relate to whilst I work 9-5, have debt & don’t own property? I’m not a finance bro. I’m not rich. I don’t have a secret passive income stream. I don’t have £50k sitting in savings. In fact, right now? I’m about to have my first baby, go on maternity leave and most of my savings are gone. But I’m still here talking about money because I know the process I learned, perfected and followed works. I know because I literally only did it last year. I paid off £10,500 worth of credit card debt after opening my first credit card at 19, and never being debt free a single day since. I changed my habits. I stopped using spending as a coping mechanism. I learned how to actually look at my bank account instead of avoiding it. I started understanding money instead of feeling constantly punished by it. And thennnn life happened again recently 😭 Pregnancy. Preparing for a baby. Vet bills. Uninsured driver hit and run. Rising bills. Fear. Unexpected costs. Trying to build a career online while figuring out who I even am anymore and what I could possibly offer anyone because I was at rock bottom myself. Watching my income, my life, change while my responsibilities double overnight. That’s the kind of finance content I care about. Not ‘how to become a millionaire by 30’. Not ‘just cut out coffee’ 😴 Not pretending discipline and financial understanding comes naturally to everyone. I care about the ‘messy middle’ of money because that’s where I find myself right now. The rebuilding. The trying again. The shame around debt. The emotional side of money nobody talks about enough. The reality of living on an average income while trying to create a better life anyway. I share my life online because I know there are other people sitting at home feeling behind financially. People who think they’ve failed because they had to start over. People who are trying to become more financially stable while also surviving adulthood, burnout, motherhood, relationships, situationships, grief, rent increases and the general chaos of existing in 2026. I like to think I’m not sharing from a gilded pedestal but documenting while I climb cringe mountain 🗻 because I know on the othetside is better days. Some days I feel motivated and organised and financially responsible. Other days (like today) I stare at my banking app icon paralysed with fear to open it and face the truth of how little money I have. I want this page to feel like the conversations we SHOULD have been having all along about money; honest ones, not performative ones.
