PS I do this too. Also, the gift cards expire after a year... sometimes. I leave the cards in my wallet until it's all gone. I had 6 cents on a gift card for years. 🤣😁

In Texas, if it’s under $2.50 you can get it in cash. At my B&N if the remaining balance is under $1 it automatically gives you change in cash.

I have at least 6 gift cards in my wallet that have been there over a year and have less than $5 on them. Do I shop at these stores? Yes. Do I ever remember I have the cards? No.

I relate to your wife so much. I have a stash of gift cards with chump change on them too. I have the idea that I can group the same store cards together for future use, but then I forget the cards or misplace them.

The 3 build a bear gift cards I have with less than a $1 on each I think the Trader Joe’s might have $4 while I have had a $250 gift card for Tiffany’s for about 10 years now
