Thank you for this! I’m assuming you’ve gotten 1000+ dm’s asking if these platforms are safe or not lol. But the questions are absolutely valid. I’ve had the pleasure to be able to talk to some members of the team of GoTrade, I will not quote them directly, and please do not quote me from this as these are just my interpretations from what they have said. In terms SEC regulation, like IBKR they are not registered in the Philippines but are able to do business globally, which may include users like us in the Philippines. It follow a reverse-inquiry framework, meaning if we stumble upon the app, it’s not them actively soliciting to invest there. Which obviously is a grey-area in itself like you mentioned. One of the question that I also asked, and probably most people want the answer from is that: is your money safe? Well, platforms such as IBKR and GoTrade are regulated by respective bodies, GoTrade in particular is regulated by FINRA. I think it’s also important to note that the buying and selling of shares is done by Alpaca Securities and GoTrade just serves as a platform for us to buy and sell the “tokens” done in Alpaca
