We want what we can't have. Highlights are up 30 seconds after a game now, and you can watch every live game you want whereas back then you had to wait until end of day for highlights or a weekend.

It’s a lot more tactical now, but the standard is much higher. I wouldn’t say there’s less goals now, but probably less goalscoring chances or half chances, the chances that are created are usually taken because of how clinical players are but also the chances that are created are more clear cut than they were years ago, but that’s from teams being patient in their build up, which as a result becomes boring for fans and neutrals

It's not pure nostalgia though. No one is saying the quality of the average player was better back in the 90s but the higher level players were better and it was more entertaining

I truly don’t think soccer is about goals it’s about balancing risk reward. The goals is the reward but truly if there is amazing saves and amazing defending with offenses fully going all out I’d be happy watching an 0-0 draw

Majority of people disregard the fact that games and players are wayy more scrutinised than say 10, 15 years ago. Every game is under a microscope with people from everywhere giving their opinions on socials. The calibre of players has definitely deteriorated but majority of people would have a completely different view if social media was a thing back in the day

The quality of individual players has dropped so much that it makes football difficult to watch. It's so robotic and everything is choreographed to the point where there are so few players who possess real individual quality and creativity. I watch older matches regularly and the quality of players and play is genuinely so much better.
