So this is a normal 'Supaa' (supermarket) and they are everywhere in every neughbourhood but often less noulticeable. Shops like 711 and family mart are 'kombini' (conveinence store) and then you have 'Depachicka' (department stores - often the basement levels). If you visit Kombini after 7/8pm all the bento and other cooked foods will be discounted.

Check out depachika! It's the basement food hall of department stores like Mitsukoshi, Takashimaya, and Matsuzakaya. They've got tons of famous Japanese foods and desserts all in one place. If you have time, search it up!

Love your content that isn’t focused on going viral!!! You should also visit the food basement floors in Japanese department stores like Ginza Mitsukoshi (called depachika). If possible, go right when they open! Everyone welcomes customers with polite bows, and it honestly makes you feel like a princess 🤣🥰

If you go to Kyoto, please go to this little Ghibli themed cafe called Cafe Ariety- it’s tucked away but it’s so good… also, left field but there’s a banging Italian in kitazawa 😂

I had the best meals ever eating from local supermarkets. Sushi and sashimi almost every day, a lot of hot dishes too and bakery sruff. Delicious.
