@leahshomestead: A nesting box is meant to protect baby rabbits in the beginning… but leaving it in too long can actually create problems people don’t expect. Around 3–4 weeks old we usually remove ours so the kits stay cleaner, healthier, and start acting more independent. Rabbit raising is all about learning when to adjust the system as they grow. 🐇

After drying the boxes, I'd prime & paint them w/oil-based paint to stop future absorption of urine. Then maybe add kitty litter to absorb the urine, then hay for them to snuggle in. Then letting boxes dry out for a week would be unnecessary.

Could you clean the box and just add back hay for them?

I am shure the rabbits are fine, they look good, I don’t know if there is a difference between meat rabbits and rabbits as pets in relation to space and activation. The rabbits on the ground have a lot of space but the rabbits in the cages, don’t they get frustrated and bored, I imagine I would go crazy😅

I leave the box in for about 3 weeks. 2 weeks is when babys start jumping out then I turn it over on the side for a week

Can you give us a rundown on the entire process? Taking them out of the boxes & everything in between to get them to the ground to “the last straw”?

Mine are a week old and they are already trying to come out of the nest. Couple of them have already succeeded.
