I am a living example of how this works. I'm a disabled veteran. I get my health coverage from the VA, and I get a disability check every month. I work in tech, got laid off last year, and have been OK ever since. We're not doing great, but my bills are paid for and I have health care when I need it. It's such a relief. Every American should have the safety net I have.

I don’t think you’re taking away advantage from rich kids when you’re elevating the non-rich kids. That’s like saying you’re taking away food from a person when they have 3 apples and you hand 2 different apples to someone else that has 1 or 0. You’re evening the playing field. Nothing gets removed from the person with 3 apples.
