@vrss_fightgear: it’s not that fighters don’t feel fear. it’s that they learn to function inside it. but before that… they choose to walk toward it. psychology describes this as approach vs avoidance behaviour - the tendency to either move toward discomfort or retreat from it. and over time, that response starts to change. until something shifts. the possibility of growth becomes stronger than the instinct to avoid fear.
Getting punched in the face, choked out, injured, or whatever else. That fear is easier to face than my shitty life. I’d rather look my opponent in the face, knowing they are going to hurt me then to not know what hurt life is about to destroy me with next
