I love your content! I completely agree with the rent and invest strategy as the best way to build wealth. Keep cost of living and rent reasonably low and invest for life. Time in the market is everything !!

Pay it off early or pay it in 25 years… then no mortgage, while others pay rent for 50+ years

We understand this - no one is naive to interest payments. The American dream isn’t renting 😂

You really want to be paying rent in your 80s ?

66% of my payment goes to principle. Better than 100% of a rent payment going to interest

You completely ignore appreciation. You will be at 50% LTV in the first 5-10 years in most cases.

And so that's the math. So what. It has always been this way. What is your point?

I bought in 2019 & refi in 2021 to 2.7% .. and even with that low rate I’m aggressively paying my balance which many say is dumb on such a low rate. but my retirement accounts still get maxed & I have savings.. so for my peace of mind I’d rather tackle my only debt fast 😅 being debt free years before retirement will make me happy

What people don’t realize when they make these blanket statements about homeownership is how incredibly expensive it is to maintain a home. I’m exhausted financially. I was lucky enough to buy a house before prices skyrocketed but the mortgage is the least of it.

But what you’re not explaining is that after 30 years, the value of your house will have increased 6X, and that $3300 will be a small fraction of your income.

I’m 60 years old and the bulk of my wealth I made in real estate. Bought and sold 5 houses over the years.

The problem with this argument is that it doesn’t deal with the issue of “you have to live somewhere”! Renting maybe cheaper dollar for dollar but with buying you get to own, improve and then sell! Not to mention houses, generally, increase in value. Rent if you want but over time buying is the better choice. IMHO
