I have a Samsung Phone. I have "Samsung Music" (Music Player From The Galaxy Store), I download my music online through "Tubidy" or "doubledoubletop" (At MP4/MPA/Flac/Wav/Lossless Quality), & I add the album cover art & details with "Automatag" (From Google Play Store). 100% offline, 100% free, 100% ownership, no ads, background play, lockscreen controls, EQ settings... everything. When I get a new phone, I just share all my music files to that phone. Been doing this since 2014, never experienced an issue.❤️

I remember something called an iPod, maybe you’ve heard of it. Ahh, Apple cancelled its production. The headphone jacks is a plus in this one. I can do without all the android apps.
