This is not a Canadian thing soon as the water would freeze in the winter time it would crack all those plastic things and then rip your whole roof apart and the weight of a big flow block on top of your house. Not a very good idea.

those "shells" were designed in austrilia I believe for aircraft hangers. strong enough to bare the weight of aircraft while not needing as much concrete.
