this hits me very hard because I have tried to worship the gods multiple times (including Hermes!) but I always feel like I am failing them because I do not have the time or mental energy to properly study about them or to make offerings or to pray, I have always felt this utter respect for them in a way that makes me feel distant and like I have to earn their attention, because they're deities, they're powerful and they deserve to be worshipped and this is something that I was thinking a few days ago so... maybe I should just not be so hard on myself and worship them however I can?

I think there is a big misunderstanding in the Hellenic Polytheist community that you cannot speak with the gods until you have built up kharis. But speaking with them and connecting with them is what builds kharis. Yes, it is important to be respectful in your worship, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a close and deeply personal relationship with the gods. It can be confusing to someone new to the religion, and a lot of the information out there can make it seem like you have to be perfect before coming before the gods, but the most important thing is just to speak with them and connect with them in a way that matters to you and works for you. I myself still struggle to remember this sometimes.

I've had alters set up for months for Hermes, Aphrodite, and Apollo, because I wanted to start speaking to them and worshipping them but I got told by so many people that I had to do it properly, that the Gods aren't my friends but divine beings that I can't reach properly. But this video showing up on my fyp feels like a sign that I should start trying, even if I don't get answers the first few times, even if nothing happens, I should atleast try. But idk, I'm still scared.
