The 2026 Toyota Hilux adopts a tougher and more modern design with slimmer LED headlamps, a larger grille, revised bumpers and a wider stance. Updated wheel designs, redesigned taillamps and refined body detailing give the new-generation bakkie a more contemporary appearance while maintaining its rugged ladder-frame proportions and off-road-focused character. Inside, the Hilux receives a redesigned cabin with a more digital layout, larger infotainment touchscreen and updated instrument cluster. Toyota has also improved material quality and refinement, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, physical shortcut controls and expanded driver assistance features contribute to a more user-friendly and premium experience. The new Hilux is still powered by the same 2.8 GD-6 engine making the same power and torque outputs of 150 kW and 550 Nm. It's paired to a 6-speed or manual. Other powertrain options include a 48V mild-hybrid diesel powertrain alongside the first fully electric Hilux derivative. Toyota has also confirmed a future hydrogen fuel-cell variant.
