They surrendered because the Soviet Union was already invading Manchuria and they did not want Russia to occupy Japan

it sickens me when school system always taught students that Japan surrendered due to Hiroshima and Nagasaki with never even mentioning Soviet invasion of Manchuria.

This is mostly false. Tojo and many others said at the Tokyo trials that the second bomb on Nagasaki forced there surrender and said that the Soviet army invading Manchuria had little to no impact on there surrender

The USSR didn’t have a navy, so there was not way for the USSR to get over to Japan

When UK and France sign a peace deal with Hitler, do they become German Allies? Remember the Munich Agreement.

No. The Soviet Union was not the reason. The Soviet Union going into Manchuria meant nothing. They routed an already depleted army unit. The Soviet Union had no way of even getting to Japan. They had no navy to speak of outside of subs.

Germany and the USSR were never allies. AH knew Germany weren’t strong enough at the time to take them on, as of that moment with Europe on the brink of war. AH hated communism more than the US did post ww2. His main goal was to conquer the USSR in the first place but needed time knowing that Britain and France would declare war on Germany once they invaded Poland

Ahh yes. Because Russia’s navy could cross the sea at the time. Oh wait they didn’t have a navy. How is Russia gonna invade an island?

I don’t like this argument. Manchuria is north east china. Very far from Japan, despite them occupying it. The country notorious for not surrendering is scared because Russian invaded northeastern China? Not to mention the USSR didn’t have a navy and they were gonna use the American navy to get troops from the USSR to Japan. I’m not saying that it played no role but if you want more information the fat electrician did a video where he talks about this and it’s pretty funny I recommend watching it, it’s something with Florida man in the title.

Was told In HS that Japan was Ready to surrender after the first bomb had dropped, but by the time that message got to the US, the 2nd nuke had been dropped.
