her father was terrible, while she was kind of respected by him for showing great talent, she feared him although she was deemed his predecessor. her mother did leave, probably without saying goodbye but she still choose to be cruel for the remainder of the show. her and zuko are different sides of the same coin. i’m glad that in the comics zuko and her finally set out to find their mother because she really just needed a loving parent to forgive her and teach her better. when she experienced major defeat in the show as a young girl, it forced her to take her final necessary beat so she could start to heal.
