Is there anything that hasn’t been said to cause dementia anymore? And then there’s alcohol….

I have taken it every day for 4 years since diagnosis. No complaints.

i feel like if there was causation - every eating disorder facility would be changing what they do every single day.

there is just so much mixed info online . If I need it I am going to use it. I cannot let myself get backed up because it causes so many other problems if I do!

Isn’t dementia the upgraded diabetes.. I’ve been told sugar in the body especially everyday can lead to brain issues later in life. It’s explained as too much sugar on the brain. Is this true? Any part? I had a specialist tell me this.

Do you notice GI motility issues in your neurodivergent patients? I have asked my GI if there is a t1 diabetes link w/ achalasia & not enough research yet. But I’ve always wondered if my neurodivergence could also be a factor.

Thank you for this. I have to get a colonoscopy every 2 years because of my Crohn's and obviously I have to use laxatives every time in high quantities.

dementia is also linked to genetics and environmental toxins.. might just be that that gi issues came first...medication is just the consequence of the gastric environment

Constantly flushing our good bacterias with any laxative should be studied. I am taking miralax as it is the only laxative that doesn't give me cramps. I am constantly constipated (have 2 fissures) even though I only eat once a day meat (chicken, fish, pork, beef) avocado beans, and lots of water. I have added chia seeds to my homemade kefir, but if I don't take Miraxal, I'll be in pain

MiraLAX did something to me mentally - never in my life did I have anxiety until I started take it. Take magnesium citrate or find something else that’s natural

Anticholinergic medications in that population cause constipation and cognitive decline and could be confounding variables in that data.

It’s important to distinguish true constipation from less frequent bowel movements. Too often people think they’re constipated because they don’t go to the bathroom every day. Older adults have diminished appetite and eat less. you can’t put out what you don’t put in. So unless they’re straining, not fully evacuating, and/or stool is hard, dry, or pebble-like, are they truly constipated and do they need laxatives in the first place?
