With over 4,000 years of history, it’s China’s very first national wetland park 🌿 Here’s the wild part: in the 12th century, a Song Dynasty emperor came here fleeing war and fell so in love with it that he almost made it the imperial capital. He chose another spot in the end, but left behind one historic sentence: “西溪且留下” which means “Save Xixi.” 900 years later, that one phrase still protects this entire wetland 🥹 Misty rivers, century-old camphor trees, traditional wooden boats, ancient villages, and not a single tourist crowd in sight.
