The museum was quiet that afternoon. Only the soft sound of footsteps echoed through the wide halls, occasionally accompanied by the quiet whispers of visitors admiring the paintings. Jennie stood in front of one particular painting, her eyes fixed on the masterpiece. It wasn’t the most colorful painting in the room. In fact, it looked rather simple—soft shades, uneven brushstrokes, and a lonely figure standing beneath what appeared to be a fading sky. Yet somehow, Jennie couldn’t look away. “What were you trying to say?” she whispered. “You think the artist is trying to say something?” Jennie suddenly heard a voice beside her. She turned. A woman stood there, holding a camera around her neck. She wore a simple black outfit, her hair slightly messy as if she’d been walking around the museum for hours. Jennie recognized her immediately. Lisa. One of the most well-known photographers in the art world. Jennie blinked. “You’re Lisa, right?” Lisa smiled. “That depends. Am I in trouble?” Jennie laughed softly. “No. I just… recognize your work.” “Then I’m definitely not in trouble.” Jennie smiled before looking back at the painting. “I don’t understand this one.” Lisa stepped beside her. “Maybe you’re not supposed to understand it.” Jennie glanced at her. “Then what’s the point of looking at it?” Lisa studied the painting. “Sometimes art isn’t meant to give you an answer.” She pointed toward the figure in the painting. “Look at her.” Jennie followed her gaze. “She’s alone.” “Exactly.” “But the sky is beautiful.” Lisa nodded. “Maybe that’s the point.” Jennie frowned slightly. “What do you mean?” “Maybe the artist wanted to show that being alone doesn’t always mean being unhappy.” Jennie remained silent. Lisa continued. “Sometimes you can be standing in the middle of something beautiful and still feel like you’re searching for something.” Jennie looked at her. “And you figured all of that out just by looking at it?” Lisa chuckled. “No.” She raised her camera slightly. “I just make things up confidently.” Jennie laughed. “You’re ridiculous.” “I’ve been told.” They stayed there for several minutes. Neither of them realized that their first conversation had already lasted much longer than either expected. Eventually, Jennie asked, “So what brought you here?” “Photography.” “Obviously.” Lisa smiled. “Okay, you got me.” “And you?” Jennie looked at the painting again. “Art.” Lisa raised an eyebrow. “You’re an artist?” “I paint.” “Then we’re both in trouble.” “Why?” “Because you’re going to start analyzing my photographs.” Jennie smiled. “Maybe I already am.” Lisa laughed. “Then I guess I’ll have to see your paintings someday.” Jennie hesitated. “Maybe.” “That’s not a no.” “That’s because I haven’t decided.” “Fair enough.” They exchanged smiles. And somehow, neither of them wanted the conversation to end. One coffee became two. Two conversations became long walks. And eventually, their museum meeting became something they both looked forward to. They talked about art. Photography. Music. Childhood memories. Dreams. Then, without realizing it, their conversations became more personal. ——— One evening, they sat together at a small café after visiting another gallery. Lisa rested her chin on her hand. “Can I ask you something?” Jennie looked up from her coffee. “Sure.” “What makes you happy?” Jennie thought for a moment. “Painting.” “Only painting?” Jennie smiled. “No.” Lisa waited. Jennie looked at her. “Being understood.” Lisa’s expression softened. “I think I understand that.” “What makes you happy?” Lisa looked down at her camera. “Taking pictures.” “Only pictures?” Lisa smiled. “No.” Jennie waited. Lisa looked directly at her. “Someone who makes me want to take pictures of everything.” Jennie’s cheeks warmed. “You’re being cheesy.” “I know.” “Does it work?” “Are you smiling?” Jennie tried to hide it. Lisa laughed. “Then yes.” Weeks passed. Then months. And somewhere between shared coffees, museum dates, unfinished paintings, and photographs taken without warning… They fell in love. Not suddenly. ⬇️⬇️ #jenlisa #au #wlw #jenlisa_story #xyzbca
