Were you not mic’d up. I Create short films haven’t spent on an audio engineer - but you do need to have people mic’d up - that’s my experience anyway. Glad you figured out what was best for you!

doing a PhD in making music venues safer for our hearing, i've learnt so much about acoustics and making sure music venues are designed for sound. making sure sound inputs aren't too high is crucial too, shouldn't be seeing positive dB in the mixing desk really, should really be around -4 or so depending on what you're saying
